Introducing: The Darling Essentials

This "cheap & chic" collection consists of jewelry inspired by dark glaMOUR, nightlife and glitz, as well as Darling-esqe staple wardrobe items such as the Champagne Shadow sheer gloves, the Darling Beret and the Cabaret Diamond Tie.

When The Alter Boys (and Precious Empire members) Tommy and Roy propositioned moi with this idea I couldn't have been more thrilled! My fans have been asking for Darian Darling merchandise for quite some time. I thought curating an affordable selection of accessories inspired by my persona was the perfect starting point. The NEW New York!

This Friday, The Precious Empire showed NYC how to Rock'N Roll!! Taking advantage of the break in between the North American and European dates of Lady GaGa's Monster Ball Tour, my best friends Semi Precious Weapons launched their 13 city headlining Dirty Showbiz Tour featuring my other BFFs Breedlove and Lady Starlight. Playing to a crowd of over 1000 screaming fans, each performer sold it to the back row and blew the roof off of Irving Plaza (where SPW played a year ago on the Perez Hilton Presents Tour). Also, as a special treat for the East Coast dates The Dirty Pearls were added to the list of opening acts. They're not only the hottest rock dudes in NYC but also St. Jerome regulars and even trumpet master/crooner Brian Newman made a guest appearance. An onstage performance piece by moi (where I powdered my face and stared at myself in the mirror, while looking bored) during Breedlove's set only further added to the filthy glaMOUR! It was a perfect evening for our NYC family and a monumental night for our movement....the only one missing was a certain little Lady. Also, some of the most gorgeous names in NYC nightlife glitterati were in attendance including Ladyfag, Miss Guy, Becka Diamond, Tommy Hottpants, Kayvon Zand, Kelle Calco and Mike Furey from Dangerous Muse. Total win! Cheers to the NEW New York!

NEW Semi Precious Weapons video "Look At Me"

Here is the latest video from my boys Semi Precious Weapons, Look At Me, off their major label debut album You Love You. I worked on the video as the key makeup artist. It features not only the band (Justin, Cole, Dan and Stevy) but also fellow Precious Empire member The Jocelyn, as well as the gorgeous Krista Ayne. We shot it in January 2010, during the same week the videos for Semi Precious Weapons AND Magnetic Baby were filmed! Oh, and also during SPW/GaGa's 4 shows at Radio City Music Hall! Talk about a busy week. It was filmed on location at a seedy motel in New Jersey, coincidently called the Starlite Motel (Lady Starlight couldn't be with us, but Breedlove was in attendance). It's an amazing, filthy, cliché motel with heart shaped whirlpool bathtubs, coin operated vibrating round beds, tacky carpet, the works! It's genius!

As you can see in this behind the scenes photo, Breedlove got into the spirit of things by skinny dipping in the heart shaped tub!

“Our concept was really fucking simple; have me sit on the bed of a dirty motel room, while two stunning people are making love. Kind of like I'm the narrator of their sex — but making sure it all looks as real, honest and beautiful as the song is.” - Justin Tranter on his inspiration for the video concept.

Since this ballad is quite a departure from their usual filthy party rock style, Justin wanted that difference reflected in the makeup looks as well. His beauty routine is usually much more intense and glamorous, so I kept the makeup very soft and raw by using taupe and peach cream shadows and highlighters, a bit of brown mascara and some lip balm. This showcased his natural beauty and complimented the tenderness of the song, as well as the unkempt, steamy filthiness of the location. I replicated the same look on the girls as well, though with all the action on the bed and the humid temperature of the room, they could barely keep in on!
