Blonde Beauty Icons The Girls of Edward Runci
I have been obsessed with the pin-up artwork of Edward Runci since I discovered him in the mid-90's. He was an extraordinary but unfortunately little-known master of pin-ups in oil, who's talents were on par with genre legends like Alberto Vargas and Gil Elvgren. Born in Italy in 1921, Runci was working as a "portrait artist to the stars" in Hollywood when he was approached by a calendar company to paint pin-ups in the late 40's. His girls are usually voluptuous, blonde Marilyn Monroe-esque types with too much blush and lots of lipgloss. I have a large collection of his work, most of which hangs in my boudoir.
